Summit (topography)

A summit is the very top of a mountain or hill. Just like how the top of a cupcake is the highest point of the cupcake. When people climb mountains, they are trying to reach the summit – this means they want to get to the very highest point of the mountain. It's like a game where you want to see who can reach the highest point! Sometimes, the summit can be really hard to get to and it can take a long time to climb all the way to the top. But when you finally reach the summit, you can look around and see an amazing view of the world below you. It's like being on the tallest playground equipment and looking out over everything.
