ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Supercapacitor

A supercapacitor is like a regular battery, but it can hold a much larger amount of energy and can be recharged very quickly. It can also be used in devices that need a lot of energy very quickly, like an electric car. Instead of using chemicals like a regular battery, a supercapacitor uses two metal plates with an electrolyte in between them to store energy. The metal plates are porous, so when you pass electricity through them, the electric charge is stored in tiny openings between the molecules of the plates. So when you need a quick burst of energy, it can provide it much faster than a regular battery.
