Supersonic transport
Supersonic transport is a fancy way of talking about really fast airplanes. Remember how you love to pretend that you are flying like a bird? These airplanes can fly really fast like a bird too!
Normally, airplanes fly at about 500 miles per hour. That's pretty fast, right? But supersonic airplanes can fly at more than twice that speed! That's called breaking the sound barrier. It's so fast that you can't hear the noise of the plane anymore because it's moving faster than the sound waves it makes!
Supersonic airplanes are really cool because they can go from one place to another really quickly. It's like if you wanted to go to your grandma's house far away, normally it might take a really long time in a car or even a regular airplane. But with a supersonic airplane, you could get there super fast!
Even though supersonic airplanes are really cool, they haven't been used very much because they are very expensive to make and not many people can afford to fly on them. But maybe one day there will be more supersonic airplanes that more people can fly on!
