ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Superwoman (sociology)

Superwoman is a term used in sociology to describe the idea of a woman who tries to do everything and be everything to everyone. Imagine if you were a superhero like Wonder Woman, but you also had to go to school or work, take care of your family, and clean the house. That's how some women feel like they have to be, like they have to do everything and do it perfectly.

Now, being a superhero is awesome, but it can also be really hard. Sometimes it's hard to juggle all the things you have to do and still find time for fun and relaxation. It can be really stressful and exhausting to try to be perfect at everything, all the time.

The problem with the superwoman idea is that it puts a lot of pressure on women to live up to impossible standards. Women shouldn't have to be perfect in every aspect of their lives. It's okay to ask for help or admit that you can't do everything all at once.

It's important to remember that being a superhero is cool, but it's also okay to take a break and ask for help when you need it. Everyone needs help sometimes, even superheroes. So, don't put too much pressure on yourself to be like superwoman, just do your best and know that it's enough.
