Suppression of the Jesuits

Okay kiddo, so the Jesuits were a group of religious men who followed the teachings of Jesus Christ. They were very smart and educated, and they went to different places to spread their beliefs and help people.

But, some people didn't like the Jesuits for different reasons, and they wanted to get rid of them. So, in 1773, a man named Pope Clement XIV made an announcement that the Jesuits would be "suppressed."

What this means is that the Jesuits were not allowed to exist anymore as a group. They had to leave the places they were living and working, and their schools and churches were closed down.

This was a very sad time for the Jesuits and their followers, but some people were happy about it. However, over time, the Jesuits were allowed to come back and continue their work.
