ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Surveillance capitalism

Surveillance Capitalism is when companies use data they collect from us while we use their services to make money. For example, when we search something on Google or use Google maps, Google collects information about what we look for and where we went. Google then uses that information to show us ads related to what we search, and they make money when we click on those ads. That's how surveillance capitalism works.
