ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sustainable Forestry Initiative

Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) is a way to make sure that we are taking care of the trees and the environment. Think of it like taking care of a pet like a dog or a cat. Just like we make sure our pets have food, water, and a safe place to live, we want to make sure that trees have the things they need too.

There are certain rules that people who work with trees have to follow to make sure that they are taking care of the trees and the environment. For example, they have to plant new trees after they cut down old ones, they have to make sure that the animals who live in the forest have a home to live in, and they have to make sure that the water in the forest stays clean.

By doing these things, we are making sure that the trees and the environment will still be around for a long time for us and for other people and animals to enjoy. It's like taking care of the earth so that it stays healthy and happy!
