Sybil attack

A Sybil attack is when one person pretends to be many people online. It's like playing a game of pretend, except in this case the pretending is done to do something bad, like taking over a website or computer network. In a Sybil attack, the attacker creates lots of fake online identities and then uses those identities to take control of things. For example, the attacker might create loads of fake accounts on a website and then use those accounts to post stuff that only they want to see, or to influence how other people see things. Sybil attacks can be used to disrupt online services and sabotage discussions and decisions.
