ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Symbol (typeface)

Okay, so you know how when you learn your ABCs, you see all those different letters like A, B, C, and D? Well, a symbol is kind of like a letter but instead of being just plain lines and curves, it can be a picture or a shape too.

Now, imagine you have a special pen that can draw any letter or symbol you want. That's kind of like how typeface works. It's a special way of drawing all the different letters and symbols that we use for writing.

So, just like how there are different ways of writing letters with your normal pen (like you might write them really big or really small), there are different types of typeface. Some typefaces look fancy and have little swirls on the letters, while others look really plain and simple.

But no matter what type of typeface you use, it helps to make things look nice and easy to read because everything looks the same and organized!
