Synthetic biodegradable polymers are special kinds of plastics that can be broken down into much smaller pieces by tiny organisms in the environment. This means that if something made out of this type of plastic gets thrown away, it will eventually turn into tiny pieces that can easily be absorbed back into the environment and not harm plants, animals, or people.
