ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Synthetic vision system

Okay kiddo, have you ever played a video game where you can see a map or a picture of a place you've never been to? It helps you know where you are and what's around you without actually being there, right? Well, a synthetic vision system is kind of like that but for airplanes.

When pilots are flying, sometimes they can't see very well because of clouds or fog or if it's dark outside. A synthetic vision system uses special cameras and computer screens to create a virtual picture of what's outside the airplane, even if the pilot can't see it.

It's kind of like looking at a video game map, but instead of just a flat picture, the synthetic vision system creates a 3D picture that makes it look like the pilot is really there. This helps the pilot know where they are and what's around them, so they can fly safely even in bad weather or at night.

So, a synthetic vision system is like a really cool tool that helps pilots know where they're going and what's around them, even when they can't see it with their own eyes. Cool, right?
