Kia ora little one! Taha Māori is a big concept that means looking at things from a Māori point of view. Just like how you might see things differently from your friends when you play games or draw pictures, Māori people have their own way of seeing the world too!
Taha Māori is about respecting the culture, language and traditions of the people who first lived in Aotearoa (New Zealand). This includes learning about the stories of the land, the plants and animals that live here, and the ancestors who came before us.
Taha Māori is also about understanding and valuing Māori customs and beliefs, like the importance of whānau (family) and kaitiakitanga (taking care of the environment). We can show respect for taha Māori by learning te reo Māori (the Māori language), participating in tikanga Māori (Māori cultural practices) and being open to different ways of thinking and living.
So, in short, taha Māori means looking at things from a Māori perspective and respecting Māori culture, language and traditions. It's important so that we can all learn from each other and make Aotearoa a better and more inclusive place for everyone to live! Ka kite (see you later)!
