Tailrace fishing

Okay kiddo, so there's a thing called a hydroelectric dam which is a big wall that stops a river from flowing. The water behind the dam is very very deep and the water in front of the dam is very very shallow.

Now, when the water behind the dam flows through the turbines, it creates electricity that powers our homes and buildings. But do you know what happens to the water after it flows through the turbines? It comes out the other side of the dam in a place called the tailrace.

Now, sometimes people like to fish in the tailrace because the water comes out very fast and it can push fish towards them. You have to be very careful when fishing in the tailrace because the water can be very strong and dangerous.

People use special fishing gear, like heavy weights and long fishing rods, to catch the fish. They also have to wear special safety equipment, like life jackets and helmets, to make sure they don't get hurt by the strong current.

So, that's what tailrace fishing is all about. It's a special kind of fishing that can be very exciting, but it's also very important to be safe and careful when doing it.
