ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Talkspurt

Okay kiddo, let's talk about talkspurts. Have you ever been talking with someone and suddenly they cut you off, talking over you? That's a talkspurt! It's like when someone starts talking and they just can't stop, even when it's someone else's turn to talk.

It's kind of like when you and your friend are playing with your toys and your friend keeps making all the decisions without letting you play the way you want to. That's not very fair, right? Well, in a conversation, everyone should have a turn to talk and share their ideas.

So, it's important to be aware of our own talkspurts and try to give other people a chance to speak. And if someone else is talking over us, we can politely interrupt and say "Excuse me, I wasn't finished talking yet."

Remember, communication is all about giving and taking turns, just like when you take turns playing with your toys. So, let's try to be good listeners and not hog all the talking time!
