Tamil population per nation

Tamil people are people who speak the Tamil language and come from the southern part of India and neighboring Sri Lanka. They are a unique cultural group and their language has a long and rich history.

There are Tamil populations all around the world, but they are most concentrated in India and Sri Lanka. India has the largest number of Tamil people, with over 75 million living in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. Sri Lanka is home to around 4 million Tamil people.

Outside of India and Sri Lanka, there are significant Tamil populations in places like Malaysia, Singapore, and Mauritius. In Malaysia, there are around 2 million Tamil people, while Mauritius has a Tamil population of around 115,000.
