Tathagatagarbha Sutra

Okay little one, so there is a very special book called the Tathagatagarbha Sutra which talks about something very important. It talks about how every person has something inside of them called Tathagatagarbha or Buddha-nature. This means that every person has the potential to become a Buddha, just like the Buddha we all know and love.

Have you ever seen a seed before? It’s a small thing, but inside of it is the potential to grow into a big tree or plant. Just like that, every person has this special seed inside of them that can grow into a Buddha. It’s like having a little bit of Buddha inside of you already!

But sometimes, this seed can get covered up by things like bad habits or negative thoughts. This can make it harder for the Buddha-nature to grow and for us to become a Buddha. So, the Tathagatagarbha Sutra tells us that we need to take care of this special seed inside of us and nurture it with good thoughts and actions.

Some people think that only certain people can become Buddhas, but the Tathagatagarbha Sutra reminds us that everyone has the potential to reach Buddhahood. So, it’s important to be kind to others and to ourselves, and to try and grow that seed of Buddha-nature.

That’s what the Tathagatagarbha Sutra is all about, little one. It’s telling us that we all have the potential to become a Buddha, and that we just need to take care of that special seed inside of us.
