Tautiška giesmė

Okay, so you know how when we sing songs in English, we usually sing them in English because that's the language we speak? Well, in Lithuania, they have a really special type of song called "tautiška giesmė" (pronounced "taut-eesh-ka gi-ehs-meh").

"Tautiška" means "of the nation" and "giesmė" means "song." So a tautiška giesmė is a special type of song that represents the culture and history of Lithuania.

The songs are usually sung in Lithuanian, which is the official language of Lithuania, and they have really beautiful melodies that people have been singing for a really long time. Some tautiška giesmės are so old that people have been singing them for hundreds of years!

When people sing tautiška giesmės, they often wear traditional Lithuanian clothing (like dresses for girls and vests for boys) and they might be accompanied by instruments like a lute, a violin, or a dulcimer.

People in Lithuania really love tautiška giesmės because they are a really important part of their cultural heritage. When they sing these songs, it makes them feel proud of where they come from and reminds them of the traditions and history of their country.
