Taxicabs of New York City

Hey there kiddo! Do you know what a taxi is? It's a car that you can hire to take you to a place you want to go. In New York City, there are lots and lots of taxis everywhere - the drivers are called "cabbies."

Now, when a cabbie charges you money to take you somewhere, the government also charges them some money too - that's called a "tax." It's just like when you buy a toy at the store and the store has to pay a tax to the government.

The government uses that tax money to pay for things like building roads and keeping them clean, and making sure everyone is safe. Sometimes, the government changes the amount of tax the cabbie has to pay - it can go up or down depending on what they think is fair.

In New York City, there are also special rules that cabbies have to follow. For example, they need to put a big sign on top of their car that says "TAXI," and they need to have a special meter inside the car that tells you how much money you owe for your ride.

It can be fun to take a taxi in New York City because you get to see lots of interesting things out the window, and it's a quick way to get to where you want to go. Just remember to always be safe and wear your seatbelt!
