Taximeter

Have you ever ridden in a taxi and seen the small machine inside the car that the driver uses to figure out how much money you owe? That machine is called a taximeter.

When you get in a taxi, the driver will turn on the taximeter and it will start adding up how much money you owe based on how far you go and how long you are in the car. The taximeter knows how much to charge because it has sensors that measure the distance the car is moving and how much time has passed.

The driver can also add other charges to the total amount, like tolls or fees, so the final price you pay might be a little bit more than what you see on the taximeter.

So basically, a taximeter helps taxi drivers figure out how much money to charge you for your ride based on how far you go and how long you are in the car.
