ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Team penning

Team penning is like a fun game that cowboys and cowgirls play on horseback. There are three people on each team wearing hats and boots, and each team has a group of cows with numbers on them, usually three cows with each number.

The game starts with the cows all standing together in a pen, which is like a big corral. When the buzzer goes off, the teams have to work together to move their cows out of the pen and into a smaller area, called the “winning pen.”

The tricky part is that the cows are smart and they don’t want to leave their friends, so the teams have to pick out the three cows with their number on them and separate them from the rest of the cows. They have to do all of this before the other team does it with their cows.

To make it even more challenging, the cows are fast and they can turn and change direction quickly. The riders have to be good at controlling their horses and working together as a team to make sure they catch the right cows and get them into the winning pen.

When one team successfully moves their three cows into the winning pen, they win the game! It’s a fun way for people who love horses and cows to have some friendly competition and show off their skills.
