ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Telecompressor

A telecompressor is a special gadget that makes faraway things look closer while also fitting them into a more compact space. Imagine you're looking at a toy car from far away and it appears very small. But when you use a magnifying glass to look at it, it appears bigger and comes into more focus. A telecompressor does something similar for big, faraway objects like the stars in the sky. It makes them look closer to us and takes a big image and makes it fit into a smaller frame, like what happens when you take a big picture and resize it to fit into a small frame. This helps astronomers study these objects more closely and capture clearer images.
