Template matching

Template matching is like looking for a specific item in a big room. You have a picture of the item in your hand so that you can tell what you are looking for. You look around the room and if you see something that looks like the picture in your hand, you know you found it. Template matching works the same way. It looks at pictures to find something that looks like a template. The template is like the picture in your hand - it is a picture of what you are looking for. The computer looks at the picture it has and tries to find parts that match the template. If it finds parts that match, then it knows it found what it was looking for.
