Pattern recognition

Pattern recognition is when a computer or a person looks at something and notices patterns or similarities. For example, if you looked at a group of dogs, you might notice that all the dogs have four legs and a tail. That is an example of pattern recognition. Computers can do a much more complicated form of this, like recognizing a face in a picture, or understanding words in a language.
