Tepui

Imagine you're going on a camping trip, but instead of setting up your tent on the ground, you can set it up on top of a big rock. That's kind of what a tepui is – it's like a really big rock or mountain, but with a flat top that's perfect for camping.

Tepuis are located in South America, specifically in countries like Venezuela, Brazil, and Guyana. The flat top of a tepui is usually covered in grass and small plants, and it can be hundreds or even thousands of feet above the ground.

Tepuis are famous for their unique ecosystems. Because the tops of the mountains are so isolated, many of the plants and animals found there can't be found anywhere else in the world. For example, some tepuis are home to a type of carnivorous plant called a pitcher plant, which traps bugs inside and eats them.

People have been exploring and studying tepuis for a long time, but they can be tricky to climb and navigate. If you ever get the chance to visit one, it's sure to be an adventure!
