Tessellation (computer graphics)

Tessellation is when you break up a shape into smaller pieces made of straight lines, so that it fits together with no gaps. In computer graphics, tessellation is used to make objects look more detailed. For example, when you look at a 3D object on your computer, you may see that it is made up of many smaller shapes that fit together. These shapes are actually tiny little pieces called "tiles" that have been put together by special computer graphics algorithms called tessellation algorithms.
