The Absolute Sound

Have you ever heard a really loud noise or a very quiet whisper? That's what we call sound. But sometimes when we hear sound, we might not know where it's coming from. That's where absolute sound comes in.

Absolute sound means that when we hear a sound, we can tell exactly where it's coming from and how it sounds. Think of it like a map that shows you where things are located. Absolute sound is like a map for your ears.

Scientists use special tools to measure absolute sound. They put microphones in different places in a room and measure how sound travels from one microphone to another. Then they use that information to make a map of the sound.

So when you hear a sound in a room, your ears use the map of absolute sound to figure out where the sound is coming from and what it sounds like. And that's how you can tell if someone is sneaking up on you or if a bird is singing outside.
