The Aristocrats

The aristocrats were a group of people who were very, very rich and powerful a long time ago. They lived in big, fancy houses and had lots of servants to do things for them. They were like the rulers of the country and they often had important jobs in the government.

People were either born into aristocratic families or they could become aristocrats by marrying into the right family or by being given the title by the king or queen. This meant they had a special name like "Duke" or "Earl" or "Countess".

The aristocrats didn't have to do many things themselves because they had lots of money to buy everything they needed. They went to fancy parties and ate fancy food that other people cooked for them. They also had lots of servants who worked for them all the time.

Many people thought the aristocrats were really important and respected them a lot. But some people didn't like them because they were so rich and powerful and didn't do much to help other people. Later on, many countries started to get rid of the aristocrats and become more equal.
