The Fox and the Cat (fable)

Once upon a time, there was a fox and a cat who lived in the forest. One day, they were talking about how to escape from danger. The fox said, "I have many tricks up my sleeve that I can use to get out of sticky situations." The cat, on the other hand, said, "I only have one trick, but it always works. I climb up a tree and stay there until the danger is gone."

Just then, they heard the sound of a hunter's horn. The fox started running in circles, trying to decide which trick to use. He thought about feigning death, pretending to be sick, and several other ideas. But before he could make up his mind, the hunter's dogs were already upon him. The fox got caught in their jaws and was not able to escape.

As for the cat, she quickly climbed up a tree and waited patiently until the hunter and his dogs went away. She then climbed down and went on her merry way. The moral of the story is that it is better to have one well-practiced skill than many that are not effective.
