The Hate U Give (film)

The Hate U Give is a 2018 movie about a girl named Starr Carter. Starr lives in an urban neighborhood but goes to a mostly white, wealthy high school. After witnessing the shooting of her childhood friend, Starr must find a way to stand up for what is right, even when it means going up against her own family and community. By speaking out and joining the fight for justice, Starr starts to realize the power and strength she has inside of her. The movie shows how Starr discovers her own strength and the power of her voice to make a difference.
