The Red Balloon

Okay, imagine a big, round ball that is all red and bouncy. That's a red balloon! You might have seen one in a store or at a party.

Balloons are made out of a special material called latex. It's like a really stretchy rubber band that can hold air inside of it. When someone blows air into the balloon using their mouth or a special pump, the balloon gets bigger and bigger.

When you let go of a filled red balloon, it flies up into the air because of something called buoyancy. That's a fancy word for when something is lighter than the air around it, so it floats up.

People love playing with red balloons because they're colorful, fun to bounce around, and make a silly noise when they pop. But be careful! Balloons can pop easily if they touch something sharp like a pointy branch or a nail. So make sure to play safely with your red balloon.
