The Well to Hell hoax

Okay kiddo, you know how sometimes people like to tell spooky stories to each other around a campfire? Well, there was a story told in the late 1980s that was so popular that people started to believe it was true, even though it wasn't!

The story was about a team of scientists who drilled a really deep hole in Russia and accidentally opened up a gateway to hell. Apparently, when they put down a microphone, they could hear the screams of people in torment down below.

But here's the thing – that story was just made up. Nobody actually drilled a hole that deep or heard any screams from hell. It was all just a scary story that got out of control and people believed it without checking the facts.

So remember, even if a story seems really exciting or scary, it's important to check if it's true before you start believing it or telling it to others.
