Thirakoil

Thirakoil is a type of traditional Hindu temple found in the southern parts of India, particularly in the Tamil Nadu state. It is made up of different areas or sections, also called prakarams, which have walls or enclosures around them.

The outermost prakaram is called the maha dwara, which means main entrance. This is where you enter the temple from outside. Inside the maha dwara is the second prakaram called the anjana mandapam, which is a gathering area where worshipers can sit and wait.

The third prakaram is where the main deity of the temple is usually located. This area is called the garbhagriha or the sanctum sanctorum. This is a very important place in the temple where the idol or image of the deity is placed. Worshipers come here to offer prayers, flowers, and other offerings to the deity.

Around the garbhagriha, there may be other prakarams, each with their own significance and purpose. For example, there may be a prakaram dedicated to other deities besides the main one, or there may be a prakaram for special offerings like sandalwood paste or holy water.

Overall, thirakoil is a special type of Hindu temple that is full of history, tradition, and symbolism. It is a place where people can come to connect with their faith and honor the gods and goddesses of Hinduism.
