Tholin

So, imagine you're playing with some play-doh, and you mix a lot of different colors together. What happens? You get a big blob of mixed-up colors, right?

Scientists have found something kind of like that in outer space. They call it tholin, which is a funny name. Tholin is made up of a bunch of different chemicals all mixed together. These chemicals might include things like methane, ammonia, and other gases that float around in space.

But where did tholin come from? Well, when light from the sun hits things like methane and ammonia on a planet or moon, it can cause them to mix together and create tholin. Scientists have found tholin on places like Pluto and one of Saturn's moons called Titan.

Tholin might not sound very exciting, but it's actually really important for understanding how the universe works. By studying tholin, scientists can learn more about how planets and moons are formed, and what kinds of chemicals are out there in space. So, even though tholin might just look like a big blob of colors, it's actually a really cool thing to study!
