ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Throughput

Throughput is like a river flowing in a pipe. The water flowing in the river can be thought of as the data that needs to be sent from one computer to another. The pipe that the water is flowing through is like the connection that can be used to send the data from one computer to another. The more water that can flow through the pipe at once, the more data that can be sent from one computer to another at the same time. So, if the pipe is really big, there will be a lot of data that can be sent very quickly, which is high throughput.
