ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Tiling with rectangles

Imagine you have a big blank space, like a floor or a wall, and you want to cover it with tiles. But instead of using square tiles, you want to use tiles that are shaped like rectangles.

To tile with rectangles, you need to first decide what size and shape of rectangle you want to use. You can choose any size and shape you like, but it's important to make sure you have enough of each kind of rectangle to cover the entire space.

Next, you need to lay out a plan for how you will arrange the rectangles. You want to make sure that they fit together without any gaps or overlaps. To do this, you can start with a corner and work your way across the space, placing one rectangle at a time and making sure it fits with the ones already in place.

Once you have a plan for how to arrange the rectangles, you can start actually laying them down. You will need some kind of adhesive to hold them in place, such as glue or grout.

As you lay the rectangles down, you may need to make some cuts or adjustments to make them fit perfectly. You can use a tile cutter or saw to trim the rectangles as needed.

When you're finished tiling with rectangles, you should have a beautiful and unique pattern that adds interest and texture to your space.
