ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Time immemorial

When we talk about time immemorial, it means a really, really long time ago - so long that we can't even count the years because we don't have records or writings from that time. It's like a story that has been passed down from generation to generation through family or community. A long, long time ago, people didn't have calendars or clocks, so they measured time by things like the sun, moon, and seasons. This is why it's hard for us now to know exactly how long ago "time immemorial" was, but it's a way of saying that something has been happening for a very long time, even before we learned how to count and measure time in the way that we do now.
