Imagine two kids fighting over a toy. One kid, let's call him Israel, had the toy first, but the other kid, let's call him Palestine, thinks it's not fair and wants the toy too. Israel says the toy is his and he won't share, while Palestine says it's not fair and he deserves to play with it. This fight has been going on for a very, very long time.
A long time ago, some Jewish people wanted to have their own country in a place called Palestine, which was already home to many Arab people, including Palestinians. In 1947, the United Nations made a plan that said Palestine would be divided into two parts: one for the Jewish people and one for the Arab people. This made the Jewish people happy, but the Arab people were angry because they thought this wasn't fair.
In 1948, Israel declared itself as a country, but this also caused fighting between Israel and the Arab countries surrounding it. This fighting is called the Arab-Israeli War. Many Palestinians were forced to leave their homes and become refugees.
Since then, there have been many more conflicts between Israel and Palestine. Israel has built settlements on land that Palestinians believe belongs to them. Israel also built a big fence to try and keep the Palestinians out, which has caused a lot of anger and frustration.
Palestinians have tried to fight back in different ways, including with protests and sometimes even with violence. There have been many peace talks and agreements over the years, but they have not been successful in ending the conflict.
Today, the fight between Israel and Palestine is ongoing and very complicated. Both sides have suffered a lot and there is a lot of hurt and anger. Many people hope that one day peace can be found, so that both Israel and Palestine can live in peace and happiness.
