Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976

Toxic substances control act of 1976 is a law that was created to protect us from harmful chemicals. It's like a really big rulebook made by the government that tells companies they can't use certain chemicals in things we use every day like toys, furniture, and cleaning products.

This law makes sure that chemicals are tested to see if they're safe before they're allowed to be used. If a chemical is found to be dangerous, then it is not allowed to be used or gets very strict rules about how it can be used. The law also makes sure that the public knows about any chemicals that are dangerous and that companies have to report any accidents or harm caused by their chemicals.

Basically, the toxic substances control act of 1976 helps make sure that we're not accidentally exposed to bad chemicals and that the chemicals that we do use are safe.
