Transcontinental Traverse

Okay kiddo, a transcontinental traverse is when someone travels across a continent from one side to the other. Just like if you drew a big line across a map from one end of the continent to the other, this person would start on one side and end up on the other!

The journey can be really long and might involve walking, driving, or even flying. Imagine if you were in California and you wanted to go all the way to New York City. You'd have to go through lots of different states and landscapes to get there, like mountains and deserts and cities and forests.

Sometimes people do a transcontinental traverse as a challenge, to say "I made it all the way across this big chunk of land!" Other times, it's just a way to explore and see different parts of the continent. But no matter why someone does it, a transcontinental traverse is always a big adventure!
