Transit of Phobos from Mars

Transit of Phobos from Mars is when the tiny moon of Mars, called Phobos, passes in front of the Sun from our perspective as it orbits around Mars. Like when we look up in the sky here on Earth and see the Moon passing in front of the Sun in a solar eclipse, we sometimes can see Phobos passing in front of the Sun from Mars. The difference is that the Moon is much bigger than Phobos and so the solar eclipse shadows it casts on Earth's surface are much longer than the shadows caused by the transit of Phobos in front of the Sun from Mars.
