ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Transitional Justice Institute

So, you know how sometimes people do bad things, like steal or hurt somebody else? And then they get punished, like going to time-out or going to jail?

Well, sometimes whole groups of people do really bad things, like fighting with each other or hurting a lot of people. And after the fighting or violence stops, everybody has to figure out what to do so that everybody is safe and nobody gets hurt again.

That's where the Transitional Justice Institute comes in! They are like the grown-up helpers who try to make sure that when people stop fighting, there are rules in place so that nobody gets hurt again.

The Transitional Justice Institute has a lot of smart people who study different ways that countries have tried to make peace and get along after fighting. They try to figure out what works best, so that they can help other countries do the same thing.

They also help people who have been hurt or who have lost family members during the fighting, by trying to make sure that they get the help they need.

So basically, the Transitional Justice Institute is a group of grown-ups who try to help countries and people who have been hurt during fighting, so that they can all get along and be safe.
