Transmutation of species

Transmutation of species is a theory that suggested that one species of living thing can turn into a different species over time. It means that, for example, a fish can slowly turn into a frog over many, many years. This was something scientists long ago thought could happen, but now we know it can't happen without help from humans, like in laboratories.
