Okay kiddo, so there were two countries called Estonia and Russia and they had a problem. They couldn’t agree on some land that was in between them called the border area. It was like two kids fighting over a toy.
So they decided to have some grown up talks and came up with a plan called the Treaty of Tartu. This treaty was like a big agreement paper that both countries signed. The paper said that Estonia would get to keep some of the land and Russia would keep the other parts. They would also promise to be good neighbors and not fight anymore.
But sometimes, even with promises and agreements, people don’t always keep their word. Sadly, Russia eventually broke the promise and took more land from Estonia. It was like they took the toy back from the other kid after saying they wouldn’t.
So while the Treaty of Tartu was a helpful agreement at the time, it didn’t work out in the long run. It’s important to make promises and keep them, just like how we share our toys and keep our promises with our friends.
