ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Trial

Okay kiddo, so when grown-ups need to decide if someone did something wrong or not, they have a special way to do it called a trial. Think of it like a game - there are two teams, the people who say the person did something wrong and the people who say they didn't. The teams have to talk to a judge, who is like a special grown-up who knows all the rules.

During the trial, both teams get to ask questions and show evidence. Evidence is like clues that tell the judge what happened. The teams have to be really good at explaining why their evidence is important and why they think their side is right.

When all the talking and showing of evidence is done, the judge listens to everything and makes a decision. They decide which team was right and which team was wrong. It's kinda like when you play a game and someone wins and someone loses.

That's basically what a trial is - it's a grown-up game where everyone tries to prove their side is right and the judge decides who wins.
