Trinity High Water

Ok, so have you ever heard of a flood or a really big puddle? Well, sometimes when it rains a lot, the water level in a river can get really high and overflow onto the land around it. This is called a "high water" event.

Trinity River is a river in Texas that sometimes has high water events. When this happens, it can be dangerous for people who live nearby or who like to go fishing or boating on the river.

To help keep people safe during high water events, the Trinity River Authority (TRA) builds things called "levees" along the river. A levee is sort of like a wall that keeps the water from getting too far onto the land.

If the water gets really high, the TRA also has a plan to release some of the water from the river into a sort of "safety area" called Lake Livingston. This way, the water doesn't flood homes or businesses that are on the land along the river.

So, in summary: Trinity high water means that the water in the Trinity River gets really high and can flood the land around it. To keep people safe, the TRA builds levees and (if necessary) releases some of the water into a nearby lake.
