Trolleybuses in Cape Town

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a big bus driving around town that doesn't have any exhaust fumes coming out the back? That's a trolleybus! In Cape Town, they have special electric cables above the road that the trolleybus connects to. This gives the trolleybus power to drive using electricity instead of gas or diesel.

So when the trolleybus needs to turn a corner or go off its route, it disconnects from the electric cables and drives using a battery.

Trolleybuses are good for the environment because they don't produce as much pollution as other buses. Plus, they're quieter too! So when you see a trolleybus driving around Cape Town, remember that it's helping to keep the air clean and quiet in the city.
