Trompe-l'œil

Trompe-l'œil is a kind of art where a painting or drawing looks so real, it's like you could reach out and touch it! Artists use special techniques to make the painting look like it's 3-D, and they use realistic shapes and colors to make it look like the object is right in front of you. Sometimes the paintings are very detailed and are difficult to tell apart from the real thing!
