ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Trooper (police rank)

Okay kiddo, so trooper is a fancy word for a police officer who works for the state police. They usually wear a special uniform and drive around in special cars. Their job is to keep people safe by enforcing the laws and catching bad guys who break the rules.

Troopers have to go through a lot of training to become good at their job. They learn how to drive really fast, how to use guns, and how to talk to people in a way that makes them feel safe. They also learn how to help people who are in trouble, like if they get lost or hurt.

When a police officer becomes a trooper, they move up in rank. Just like in school, the higher your rank, the more important you are. A trooper can become a sergeant, lieutenant, captain, or even a major. This means they get more responsibilities and get to tell other police officers what to do.

So, that's what a trooper is. They are police officers who work for the state and have special training and equipment to help keep people safe.
