Hey kiddo! Do you remember how Mom and Dad always bring you some snacks to keep you energized during your busy day at school? Well, your body also has a special way of bringing snacks (hormones) to different parts that need them!
One kind of hormone is called "tropic hormone". These hormones work like a messenger and travel from one part of your brain to another part called the "pituitary gland". When tropic hormones reach the pituitary gland, they tell it to release different hormones that are needed in different parts of your body.
For example, one tropic hormone may tell the pituitary gland to release hormones that will help your body grow taller. Another tropic hormone may tell the pituitary gland to release hormones that will help your body turn food into energy.
So, just like when Mom and Dad bring you snacks to keep you going throughout the day, your body uses tropic hormones to deliver hormones to certain parts of your body that need help! Cool, huh?
