Tropical savanna climate

Dear young one,

Have you ever heard of the African savannahs? They are lands that you would find in places where there are lots of warm and sunny days, with not too much rain. This type of land is called a tropical savanna.

Tropical savannas are dry and warm, but not as hot as a desert. They usually have a wet season and a dry season. During the wet season, there can be a lot of rain that falls in a short amount of time. During the dry season, there is hardly any rain at all.

Even though there are not a lot of trees in a tropical savanna, there are still many animals living there. For example, lions, zebras, and giraffes can be found living in these lands. Because it is dry, the animals have to search for water and food. This is why they like to stay close to a water supply, such as a river or lake.

In summary, a tropical savanna is a place where it is dry and warm, but not too hot like a desert. There are wet and dry seasons, and many animals live in this kind of land.
